Football Game Preview: Lake Forest Spartans vs. Archmere Academy Auks + Official Tickets

The Lake Forest Spartans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Archmere Academy Auks at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (Lake Forest 12.2, Archmere Academy 14.4) so any points scored will be well earned.

Things were looking good for Lake Forest after they put the first points on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They took a 27-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of Indian River. The matchup marked the Spartans' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Andrew White put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 113 yards, and also picked up 36 receiving yards. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 108 rushing yards.

Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks on offense in their last four games, Archmere Academy finally came back down to earth on Friday. They had to suffer through a 36-0 loss at the hands of Howard. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Auks, who until this matchup were averaging 14.4 points allowed.

Archmere Academy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Ryan Hagenberg and Michael Donovan.

Archmere Academy moved to 7-3 with that defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak. As for Lake Forest, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 9-1.

Saturday's contest might be decided on the ground. Lake Forest has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 313.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Archmere Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 211.5 rushing yards. There's a good chance Saturday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Lake Forest took their win against Archmere Academy in their previous matchup back in September by a conclusive 35-13 score. Do the Spartans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Auks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
