Recap: New Hanover Wildcats vs. Hoggard Vikings
If The New Hanover Wildcats were riding high off their 42-6 takedown of the West Brunswick Trojans last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. New Hanover was dealt a 44-7 defeat at the hands of Hoggard on Friday. Having soared to a lofty 42 points in the game before, New Hanover couldn't push the score so high this time.
Caleb Robles threw for 85 yards and a touchdown. ZYMIR BATTS was his top target, picking up 69 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Among those leading the charge was Javion Joseph-fontaine, who rushed for 91 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries. M?kel Bellamy was another major influence, as he rushed for 106 yards and ran in a TD.
The team's defense also helped out by holding New Hanover to a paltry 147 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Hoggard's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out nine times before it was all said and done. New Hanover's QB won't forget Hutson Patterson anytime soon given Patterson sacked him three times.
New Hanover's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Hoggard, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-1.
New Hanover will head out on the road to face off against Hillside at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hillside will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. Hoggard will take on Chapel Hill at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Chapel Hill is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
