Baseball Recap: Westfield Victorious

Westfield's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They walked away with an 8-5 victory over the New Providence Pioneers. The win continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their matchups with the Pioneers: they've now won four in a row.

Ian Dickey tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched.

At the plate, Anthony Bulger and Owen O'Connor did most of the damage at the plate: Bulger went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double, while O'Connor got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Those three hits gave Bulger a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Anthony Narciso, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Westfield's victory bumped their record up to 7-3. As for New Providence, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.

Looking ahead, Westfield will square off against Scotch Plains-Fanwood at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for New Providence, they will challenge Dayton at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
