Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Jayden Jones and Ja'corian Oes Lead Tyler Legacy to Victory

There's no place like home for Tyler Legacy, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Longview Lobos on Friday as the Tyler Legacy Raiders made off with a 74-54 win. Given the Raiders' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 269th, while the Lobos are ranked 594th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Tyler Legacy was led to victory by Ja'Corian Oes and Jayden Jones. Oes dropped a double-double on 19 points and 15 rebounds, while Jones went 8 of 16 on his way to 18 points and six steals. The matchup was Oes' fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zyere Ceasar, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 11 points.

Tyler Legacy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in November of 2023.

Elijah Lloyd and Demarion Williams certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Lloyd went 7 of 13 on his way to 16 points, while Williams almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine boards. Williams is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least nine every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeffery Smith, who posted nine points.

Tyler Legacy is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-10 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy: their three-point shooting accuracy was 31.8% in those games and 35.3% outside of them. As for Longview, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-7.

Tyler Legacy and Corsicana will round out the year against one another at at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Longview, they will challenge Kemp at 9:30 a.m. on December 28th.
