Softball Recap: Gates Chili Gets the Win

Gates Chili's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They blew past the Brockport Blue Devils 19-7. The game was the first time the Spartans have beaten the Blue Devils on their field since April 11, 2022.

Abbie Graupman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Graupman was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-1.

In other batting news, Gates Chili let Hannah Brown and Annaliese McGill run wild. Brown went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple, while McGill went 2-for-6 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Mackenzie Brown, who scored three runs while getting on base in four of her six plate appearances.

Gates Chili's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Brockport, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gates Chili will head out to face off against Pittsford at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Brockport, they will venture away from home to square off against Canandaigua Academy at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday.
