Basketball Recap: Madison Takes a Loss

Madison was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They took a 24-16 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Waltrip Rams. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rams this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 35-17 back in January.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Waltrip to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kristy Godinez, who posted 11 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Godinez has scored at least a third of the Rams' points. Another player making a difference was Zahara Faison, who earned seven points.

Madison's loss dropped their record down to 1-18. As for Waltrip, they moved to 6-13 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Madison will take on rival Sharpstown at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Waltrip is set to face off against their familiar foe Sterling at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
