Softball Recap: St. John XXIII Finds Home Field Redemption Against Incarnate Word Academy

There's no place like home for St. John XXIII, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They blew past the Incarnate Word Academy Falcons 13-3 on Tuesday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 14-0 on April 1st.

Alexa Ramirez made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ella Delaune, who went 4-for-5 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Emma Morrison was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

St. John XXIII kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The win got St. John XXIII back to even at 6-6. As for Incarnate Word Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-14-1.

Looking ahead, St. John XXIII will take on Antonian Prep on Wednesday. The Apaches will roll in looking for their 17th straight victory, something the Lions surely won't give up without a fight. Incarnate Word Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
