Basketball Recap: Ellet Victorious

After losing to Laurel the last time they met, Ellet decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Ellet Orangemen slipped by the Laurel Gators 58-57 on Wednesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Orangemen.

Caitlyn Holmes continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, putting up 30 points and five rebounds. Jaeda Tavares was another key player, going 6 of 10 on her way to 17 points.

Ellet smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 12 consecutive matches.

Ellet pushed their record up to 10-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Laurel, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9.

Ellet won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Garfield Community Learning Center at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Ellet is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.8 points per game this season. As for Laurel, they will head out to face off against Cathedral Prep at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday.
