Recap: Millard Eagles vs. South Sevier Rams
The Millard Eagles suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Thursday. They had to suffer through a rough 64-30 loss at the hands of South Sevier. While losing is never fun, Millard can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 90th, while South Sevier is ranked 14th).
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Caislee Lunt, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and two steals. Kyra Moat was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with seven rebounds.
South Sevier's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sydnee Patterson, who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds and six assists. That's the first time this season that Patterson pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kinley Jenson, who scored 23 points along with two steals.
Millard's loss dropped their record down to 4-9. As for South Sevier, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Millard will take on Water Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Water Canyon is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak. South Sevier on the road again on Saturday and play against Enterprise at 4:00 p.m. on January 6th. Hopefully Enterprise focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 last Thursday.
