The Cypress Centurions will square off against the El Modena Vanguards at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Cypress 3.4, El Modena 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
On Thursday, Cypress beat Villa Park 8-3. The Centurions haven't had any issues with the Spartans recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Delaney 'D.J.' Faus made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Cypress let Makayla Bishop and Brooklyn Montgomery run wild. Bishop went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs, while Montgomery went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most stolen bases Bishop has posted since back in February. Madison 'Maddie' Gutierrez also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Cypress kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, El Modena faced Canyon in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Vanguards lost 8-1 to the Comanches. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Kaitlyn Galasso was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
Cypress' win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-9. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for El Modena, their loss dropped their record down to 16-7.
Everything went Cypress' way against El Modena in their previous meeting on Tuesday, as Cypress made off with a 10-0 win. Do the Centurions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Vanguards turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
