Volleyball Recap: Gompers Prep Academy Comes Up Short

After flying high against Monarch last Thursday, Gompers Prep Academy came back down to earth. The Eagles came up short against the Mountain Empire Redhawks on Tuesday, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Redhawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 on April 10th.

Gompers Prep Academy took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-16, 25-20, 25-21.

Mountain Empire found their leader in sophomore Amar Mahasin, who had 19 digs and three aces. Mahasin has been hot recently, having posted ten or more digs the last four times he's played.

Gompers Prep Academy's loss dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Mountain Empire, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-7.

Coincidentally, Gompers Prep Academy and Mountain Empire will both be playing High Tech CV the next time they take the court. The Redhawks will host the Bruins at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Eagles will host them at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
