Bridgeport dropped their record down to 9-4 on Friday, which also ended the team's eight-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Bellaire Big Reds, falling 17-1. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Bulldogs, who until this contest were averaging 3.62 runs allowed.

Bridgeport saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was DANNY GOFF, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

As for Bellaire, they pushed their record up to 7-12 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Bellaire's side, Brae Schmidli made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Bellaire is 2-1 when Schmidli allows two or fewer earned runs, but 5-11 otherwise. Schmidli was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, Alex Padgett was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Landon Preston was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Coming up, Bridgeport will look to defend their home field on Monday against Jefferson County Christian at 5:00 p.m. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Royals have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season. As for Bellaire, they will head out on the road to face off against Edison at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
