Basketball Recap: Basalt Takes a Loss

Basalt was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 14th straight defeat. They took a blow against the Delta Panthers, falling 66-16. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 46-6 back in January.

Leading Delta to victory were Janelle Christie and Mya Abeyta. Christie almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine boards, while Abeyta on her way to 14 points and three steals. Those 14 points gave Abeyta a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Paige Kehmeier, who posted two points and nine steals.

Basalt's loss dropped their record down to 2-19. As for Delta, the win was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Basalt will host Fort Lupton at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Delta, they will welcome Coal Ridge at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Delta is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.5 points per game this season.
