Softball Recap: Modoc Braves vs. Weed Cougars
Modoc dropped to 5-12 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They lost 14-3 to the Weed Cougars. The Braves were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cougars earlier this season, when they won 11-7.
Modoc saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madelyn Moltzen, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
As for Weed, their win ended a 12-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-15. With that victory, they brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.
On Weed's side, Riley Dawson was excellent, going a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, seven RBI, and three runs. Those seven RBI gave Dawson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Paige Jauregui, who got on base in four of her seven plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
Modoc has already played their next contest (against Trinity), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Weed, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 16-1 defeat against Etna on the 1st.
