Baseball Recap: Richland Bears vs. Laquey Hornets
Richland made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Laquey, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Bears put the hurt on the Hornets with a sharp 16-3 victory on Thursday. Considering the Bears have won four contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Mason Alexander was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has become a key player for Richland: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most two hits, but 2-3 otherwise. Alexander was also big at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, Phoenix Johnson was a standout: he scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. London Smith was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-4.
