Baseball Preview: Buhl Indians vs. Wendell Trojans

Buhl and Wendell are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. The Buhl Indians are on the road again on Tuesday to play the Wendell Trojans at 4:00 p.m. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Buhl can't be too worried about heading out to take on Wendell: they just beat Kimberly at home, who had been dominant on their own field up to that point. Buhl walked away with an 11-6 victory over Kimberly on Thursday.

Remington Higley was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched six innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. Higley was also stellar in the batter's box, going 5-for-5 with five RBI and a run.

In other batting news, Dom Pierce was excellent, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Chase Craner, who scored three runs while going 1-for-4.

Hirai has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive pitching appearances. Hirai was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Hirai wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jaxon Mattix, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Buhl's record is now 4-8-1. As for Wendell, their record now sits at 12-4-1.

Buhl came out on top in a nail-biter against Wendell when the teams last played back in April of 2023, sneaking past 8-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for Buhl since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
