Basketball Game Preview: Mt. Rainier Rams vs. Auburn Trojans

The Mt. Rainier Rams will venture away from home to square off against the Auburn Trojans at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Mt. Rainier is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.

Mt. Rainier is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Kentridge on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Mt. Rainier was beaten by Kentridge 69-29. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 260th, while the Chargers are ranked 117th).

Meanwhile, Auburn posted their closest victory since January 16, 2024 on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 47-44 win over Kentwood. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Trojans.

Mt. Rainier's defeat dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Auburn, their victory bumped their record up to 10-4.

Mt. Rainier was dealt a bruising 64-26 loss at the hands of Auburn when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Can Mt. Rainier avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
