Football Game Preview: Cheltenham Panthers vs. Souderton Indians

The Cheltenham Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Souderton Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cheltenham has given up an average of 29.4 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Last Friday, Cheltenham came up short against Bensalem and fell 38-30. That's two games in a row now that the Panthers have lost by exactly eight points.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Souderton). They really took it to Quakertown for the full four quarters, racking up a 49-12 win. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Indians had established a 30-point advantage.

Souderton's defense made their presence known, laying out Brady Martin. three times. Noah Porter was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two sacks himself.

The victory made it two in a row for Souderton and bumps their season record up to 4-1. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to yards per carry: they averaged an imposing 6.3 yards per carry in those games compared to only 3.57 in the others. As for Cheltenham, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.

Cheltenham was taken down by Souderton 49-13 in their previous meeting back in September of 2024. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
