Basketball Recap: Heritage Academy Extends Road Winning Streak to Three

Heritage Academy won the last time they faced Santa Cruz Valley and things went their way on Thursday too. The Heritage Academy Heroes walked away with a 59-52 win over the Santa Cruz Valley Dust Devils. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Heroes.

Danye Sypho was his usual excellent self, going 10 of 24 en route to 26 points and eight boards. Brenden Whetten was another key player, putting up nine points.

Heritage Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

Several Dust Devils players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ty Jarius Salazar, who went 7 for 11 on his way to 19 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Nathan Harris, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 boards.

Heritage Academy pushed their record up to 7-6 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.3 points per game. As for Santa Cruz Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-7.

Heritage Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 58-48 win against ALA - Anthem South on the 21st. As for Santa Cruz Valley, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 81-45 defeat against Phoenix Country Day on the 21st.
