Softball Game Preview: Boonsboro Warriors vs. Saint James Saints

The Boonsboro Warriors will take on the Saint James Saints at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Boonsboro's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Brunswick with a sharp 14-0 win. The victory was nothing new for the Warriors as they're now sitting on three straight.

Meanwhile, Saint James came tearing into Thursday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Indians 13-0.

Lily Schlotterbeck ?26 made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and three RBI.

In other batting news, Claire Barnes ?25 was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with five RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Everett Sechler ?26, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Saint James was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Boonsboro's win was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Saint James, their win bumped their record up to 7-1.
