Baseball Recap: Fort Payne Extends Winning Streak to Six

Fort Payne waltzed into their matchup on Monday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They blew past the Buckhorn Bucks 15-8. The Wildcats not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since February 25th.

Brannon Oliver made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Ryker Ingle looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Kyle Caminiti and Carson Lilly did most of the damage at the plate: Caminiti got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Lilly scored three runs while going 3-for-3. Those three runs gave Caminiti a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryker Shankles, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Fort Payne was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Fort Payne's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-10. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Buckhorn, they moved to 22-13 with that defeat, which also ended their eight-game winning streak.

Fort Payne has already played their next game (against Sardis), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Buckhorn does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
