A Season-Best Performance from George Grant Leads Maclay over FAMU DRS

On Friday, Maclay got the W thanks in part to George Grant playing the best football he has all season. Grant threw for 306 yards and four touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes, and also rushed for 108 yards and a touchdown on only five carries. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 58 yards.

Grant must have FAMU DRS's number; he was a force to be reckoned with the last time he faced them too. When Grant last faced the Baby Rattlers back in September of 2023, he rushed for 109 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries, and also threw for 255 yards and four touchdowns.

On Friday, North Florida Christian had to settle for second even though Arius Burt put up the best numbers he has all season. Burt rushed for 123 yards and two touchdowns, and also picked up 52 receiving yards. He also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making four total tackles and defending a pass.

North Florida Christian is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5. Burt and North Florida Christian will look to defend their home field on Friday against FAMU DRS at 7:00 p.m.

Tucker Poppell put up the most rushing yards he's had since back in October of 2023 on Friday. He made eight total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defended a pass. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 70-yard run.
