Luella scaled the state rankings by moving to 223 from 259 this week, the biggest jump in AAAAAA Region 2. The Lions were able to move up by defeating Henry County 24-21.
Luella and the Warhawks played the most contested game in the league this week, with Luella eventually emerging with a 24-21 victory. Donald Hammond threw for 113 yards in the win.

Thanks to the talents of Hammond and Clemmons, the Lions have been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Hammond is tops in the league in passing with 424 yards, while Clemmons has rushed for 219 yards this season. Tops in the league in receiving yards is Newton's Davonta Jones, with 184 yards on 11 catches.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when Luella takes on Alcovy. The Lions' offense has racked up 57 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while the Tigers have allowed only 44 on the year.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Lovejoy takes on Druid Hills. At the moment, the Wildcats are in second, while the Red Devils are in fourth.
Luella made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 5,731 from 6,675. The improvement was the result of 24-21 victory over the Warhawks last week.
