Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask ALA - Queen Creek). Everything went their way against the Saguaro Sabercats on Friday as ALA - Queen Creek made off with a 16-10 win. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by six runs or more this season.
Chloe Varvel made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off nine hits (and only one walk). Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, Matea Webster was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 5-for-5. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Brylee Corrigan was another key player, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, one run, and one double.
ALA - Queen Creek kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. They are 5-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
The victory got ALA - Queen Creek back to even at 5-5. As for Saguaro, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. ALA - Queen Creek will welcome Bradshaw Mountain at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Saguaro, they will be playing in front of their home fans against ALA - Gilbert North at 3:45 p.m. on Monday.
