Softball Recap: Highland Victorious

Hanford West typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Highland proved too difficult a challenge. They won by a run and slipped past the Huskies 5-4. That's two games straight that the Scots have won by just one run.

Gracie Luna was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. Madelyn Gonzalez was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Highland was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .435. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive matches.

Highland's win bumped their record up to 14-5-2. As for Hanford West, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-6.

Highland and Hanford West should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Scots will challenge Independence at 4:00 p.m. on the 23rd with a big rank advantage (128 vs. 349). Meanwhile, Hanford West (ranked 36th) will meet Sierra Pacific (ranked 434th) at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
