Baseball Game Preview: Damonte Ranch Mustangs vs. Douglas Tigers

The Damonte Ranch Mustangs will face off against the Douglas Tigers at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Damonte Ranch has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since the 4th.

On Tuesday, Damonte Ranch didn't have quite enough to beat Reed and fell 3-2.

Kolten Matter was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Jake Wigfield was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs. That home run marked the first that he launched this season.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Douglas and Galena, and Douglas kept the tradition alive. Douglas came out on top against Galena by a score of 7-4 on Tuesday.

Duncan Delange tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits.

At the plate, Douglas saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Ovard, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI.

Damonte Ranch's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Douglas, their win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-6.

Damonte Ranch suffered a grim 12-1 defeat to Douglas in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Damonte Ranch avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
