Basketball Recap: Dayspring Christian Academy Comes Up Short

Dayspring Christian Academy was the 61-52 winner over Mount Calvary Christian when they last played one another last Tuesday, but their luck changed this time around. The Dayspring Christian Academy Warriors were just a bucket shy of victory on Monday and fell 52-51 to the Mount Calvary Christian Chargers.

Gabe Mellinger and Noah Huxta certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Mellinger dropped a double-double on 23 points and 12 rebounds, while Huxta went 6 for 11 from beyond the arc on his way to 22 points and four steals. Mellinger's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Nate Swift, who posted two points and eight boards.

Leading Mount Calvary Christian to victory were Josiah Masters and Jj Cuneo. Masters went 9 of 14 to rack up 20 points and six rebounds, while Cuneo dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten boards. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Masters has scored at least a third of Mount Calvary Christian's points. Trey Robinson was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Dayspring Christian Academy's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 10-1 and their overall record down to 12-5. As for Mount Calvary Christian, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Dayspring Christian Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 53-41 victory against Lititz Christian on the 28th.
