Basketball Recap: San Clemente Tritons vs. Trabuco Hills Mustangs
The San Clemente Tritons entered their tilt with the Trabuco Hills Mustangs with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. San Clemente walked away with a 64-57 victory over the Mustangs on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead San Clemente to victory, but perhaps none more so than Christian Fernandez, who scored 18 points along with three steals and two blocks. Will Whidden was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Trabuco Hills lost, one person who can't be blamed is Matt Mowers. Despite the final result, he scored 13 points along with six rebounds and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Arshia Amini, who scored 13 points along with two blocks.
San Clemente's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 23-5. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.2 points per game. As for Trabuco Hills, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 20-8.
San Clemente does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Trabuco Hills also has no future games currently scheduled.
