Baseball Recap: Canyon Lake Wins Going Away Against Comfort

Canyon Lake got themselves on the board against Comfort on Wednesday, but Comfort never followed suit. Everything went their way against the Comfort Bobcats/Deer as they made off with a 10-0 win. Canyon Lake might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Hayes Holladay was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over six innings pitched. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in February. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Gram Simpson was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he launched this season. Carter Williams was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Canyon Lake has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That lines up perfectly with their 17-3-1 record this season. Comfort is on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Canyon Lake will square off against New Braunfels at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Canyon Lake 3, New Braunfels 1.3) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Comfort, they will take on Florence at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Florence will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
