Baseball Recap: Mira Mesa's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Three

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Mira Mesa ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Coronado Islanders. Winning may never get old, but the Marauders sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Mira Mesa saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zerek Zamora, who went 1-for-4 with one double and one RBI. Another was Nathaniel Widelski, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Mira Mesa's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-10. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Coronado, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-7.

Mira Mesa will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Islanders: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
