Basketball Recap: Teays Valley Christian Falls to Victory Baptist Academy in First Game of Season

Teays Valley Christian had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell 60-56 to the Victory Baptist Academy Saints on Tuesday. The Lions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Saints apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Victory Baptist Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Landon Cormican, who shot 40% from the field on his way to 23 points and three steals. That's the most points Cormican has posted since back in December of 2024. Nathan Dillon was another key player, putting up nine points and four steals.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Teays Valley Christian will take on rival Calvary Baptist Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The game will give the Lions their first taste of in-conference action this season. Meanwhile, Victory Baptist Academy is set to challenge their familiar foe Pipestem Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on December 2. This will also be the Saints' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
