Softball Recap: Cleveland Warriors vs. McDaniel Mountain Lions
Cleveland hadn't done well against McDaniel recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Warriors put the hurt on the Mountain Lions with a sharp 12-2 victory. This was a revenge game for the Warriors: when they faced off against the Mountain Lions on April 4th, they had to take a 15-2 defeat.

Jillian Lee was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Kailen Steffek was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Anabelle Sahler, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Cleveland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as McDaniel only managed eight hits.
Cleveland has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for McDaniel, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cleveland will face off against West Albany at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Warriors are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for McDaniel, they will square off against Grant at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
