Softball Recap: Lincoln Wins Going Away Against Sylacauga

While Lincoln put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Sylacauga. The Lincoln Golden Bears were the clear victor by an 11-0 margin over the Sylacauga Aggies. That's more bragging rights for the Golden Bears, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Chandler Stephens made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single earned run, the first time she has blanked an opponent over her last eight matches. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Shelby Williams and Aubrey Machen did most of the damage at the plate: Williams scored two runs while going 3-for-3, while Machen went 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Those three hits gave Williams a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cameron Pruitt, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.

Lincoln kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive games.

Lincoln's win bumped their record up to 13-6-1. As for Sylacauga, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9.

Coming up, Lincoln will head out on the road to take on Leeds at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Leeds will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Lincoln surely won't give up without a fight. As for Sylacauga, they will head out to face off against Benjamin Russell at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Sylacauga has given up an average of 9.5 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
