Recap: Gayville-Volin Raiders vs. Andes Central/Dakota Christian
After flying high against the Wausa Vikings on Tuesday, the Gayville-Volin Raiders came back down to earth. Gayville-Volin took a 59-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Andes Central/Dakota Christian on Thursday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Gayville-Volin in their matchups with Andes Central/Dakota Christian: they've now lost eight in a row.
Gayville-Volin's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maia Achen, who scored eight points along with 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Hoxeng, who scored 11 points.
Gayville-Volin's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-1. As for Andes Central/Dakota Christian, they pushed their record up to 2-1 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Centerville the next time they take the court. Gayville-Volin will head out to face Centerville at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Andes Central/Dakota Christian will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
