Basketball Recap: Rocco Minner's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Platte Valley over Skyview Academy

After flying high against Valley last Friday, Platte Valley came back down to earth. The Platte Valley Broncos fell 45-33 to the SkyView Academy Hawks on Tuesday.

Several Broncos players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Rocco Minner, who posted 11 points along with seven boards and three blocks. The dominant performance gave Minner a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Regan Edstrom, who had 11 points and five rebounds.

Reagan Lewis was nothing short of spectacular for SkyView Academy: he went 7 of 12 on his way to 15 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Clay Cosart, who put up nine points and five rebounds.

Platte Valley now has a losing record at 1-2. As for SkyView Academy, their victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-1.

The future could be bright for both Platte Valley and SkyView Academy: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Platte Valley will try to hand Northridge their third-straight loss when the two meet at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, SkyView Academy will try to hand Peyton their third-straight defeat when the two meet at 5:30 p.m. on December 19th.
