Basketball Recap: Cornerstone Charter Takes a Loss

Cornerstone Charter lost against Carver back in November of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Cornerstone Charter Cardinals were beaten by the Carver Yellowjackets 82-53. Even though they lost, the Cardinals' still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 50.1 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Despite the loss, Cornerstone Charter saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Charles Walker dropped a double-double on 29 points and 14 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Walker has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lake Bristol, who posted 14 points.

Even though they lost, Cornerstone Charter smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in seven consecutive games.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Carver to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nasir A. Conrad, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 boards. Those 20 points gave A. Conrad a new career-high. Jeremiah Glaspie was another key player, dropping a double-double on ten points and 11 assists.

Cornerstone Charter's defeat dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Carver, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-8.

Cornerstone Charter will host Phoenix Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cornerstone Charter is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.1 points per game this season. As for Carver, they will head out to face off against Piedmont Classical at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
