Basketball Recap: Blue Ridge Comes Up Short

Blue Ridge managed to keep up with Athens until halftime on Monday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Blue Ridge Raiders came up short against the Athens Wildcats, falling 65-45. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Raiders have suffered since January 2nd.

Athens' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nick Grazul, who went 7 of 11 to rack up 16 points and four steals. That's the most points Grazul has posted since back in December of 2024. Lucas Shultz was another key player, putting up 12 points and five steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Blue Ridge and nudges their season record down to 7-10. As for Athens, their win bumped their record up to 9-13.

Coming up, Blue Ridge won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Carbondale Area at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Athens does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
