Softball Preview: Vardaman Rams vs. Hatley Tigers
The Vardaman Rams are taking a road trip to face off against the Hatley Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
Last Wednesday, Vardaman came up short against West Union and fell 9-4. The Rams haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.
Meanwhile, Hatley entered their tilt with Potts Camp on Tuesday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. They didn't even let the Cardinals on the board, marking their second-straight 1-0 shutout.
Not much got past Ashlynn Dabbs, who gave up just a hit and racked up 12 Ks to keep Potts Camp off the board. Dabbs has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Hatley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kinsley Echols, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Hatley hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Potts Camp struck out 12 times.
Hatley pushed their record up to 13-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Vardaman, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-7.
