Soccer Game Preview: Grapevine vs. Birdville

The Grapevine Mustangs are taking a road trip to face off against the Birdville Hawks at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Last Friday, Grapevine didn't have quite enough to beat Ryan and fell 2-1. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Mustangs came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 238th, while the Raiders are ranked 534th).

Grapevine's goal came courtesy of Tyler Thompson, who's now up to ten this season.

Meanwhile, Birdville managed to keep up with Richland until halftime on Friday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Birdville lost 5-0 to Richland.

Birdville dropped their record down to 1-14 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Grapevine, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-9.

Grapevine took their victory against Birdville in their previous matchup back in February by a conclusive 3-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Grapevine since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
