Preview: North Brunswick Scorpions vs. West Brunswick Trojans

North Brunswick has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the West Brunswick Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in North Brunswick's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matchups.

North Brunswick pushed their score all the way to 64 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 72-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of New Hanover. While losing is never fun, North Brunswick can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 91st, while New Hanover is ranked sixth).

Malakhi Daniels put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 23 points along with six rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last three games he's played. Terry Hood was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, West Brunswick's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight defeat. They received a tough blow as they fell 63-46 to Ashley.

North Brunswick's defeat ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 16-5. As for West Brunswick, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season.

Everything came up roses for North Brunswick against West Brunswick when the teams last played back in January as the team secured a 68-30 victory. With North Brunswick ahead 51-21 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
