McQueen is 0-10 against Douglas since March of 2023 but things could change on Thursday. The Lancers will face off against the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. Douglas took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on McQueen, who comes in off a win.
McQueen is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They came out on top against Carson by a score of 8-5.
Violet Moyao made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Moyao was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Vanessa Bein, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Ashlyn Guber was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Douglas faced Spanish Springs in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Tigers wound up with the same score they had in their last game (7-3), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. They have struggled against the Cougars recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.
Ida Martin was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
McQueen has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 19-14 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Douglas, their loss dropped their record down to 22-9.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. McQueen hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Douglas struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.8 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
