Softball Game Preview: West Point Dragons vs. Skyline Coyotes

The West Point Dragons will face off against the Skyline Coyotes at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. West Point is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.

West Point took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They never let Camelback get on the board and left with a 25-0 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Dragons considering their one-run performance the game before.

The team relied heavily on Zerianna Gomez, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with eight RBI, four runs, and one triple. Those eight RBI gave her a new career-high. Gabby Rodiguez was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple.

West Point always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .765. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Skyline was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 15-0 to Mountain View.

West Point's win bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Skyline, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-11.

West Point's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's contest. West Point has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.7 stolen bases per game.
