Basketball Recap: Lorena Comes Up Short

Lorena's tournament run continued when they took on Westwood on Friday. The Leopards lost 73-53 to the Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Leopards can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 657th, while the Panthers are ranked 144th).

Westwood's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kavian Bryant, who shot 63% from the field en route to 29 points. Bryant is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 18 or more in each of the last 15 games he's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sebastian Lathan, who went 8-for-9 to rack up 17 points.

Lorena now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Westwood, the win keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.

Lorena didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 60-48 defeat against Onalaska on the 12th. As for Westwood, they have also already played their next matchup, a 72-54 victory against Central Heights on the 12th.
