Basketball Recap: North Providence Cougars vs. Prout Crusaders
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact North Providence can now relate to. They took a 51-35 bruising from the Prout Crusaders on Saturday. The Cougars were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Crusaders earlier this season, when they won 38-37.
Despite the loss, North Providence still got an impressive performance from Riddhi Mistry, who posted 16 points. What's more, Mistry also posted a 40% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in January.
Prout was led to victory by Seneca Fielding and Lauren Gill. Fielding dropped a double-double with 12 points and 15 rebounds, while Gill went 7-for-14 on her way to 16 points and five boards. Fielding has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Sophia Hipsman, who scored 11 points.
North Providence's defeat dropped their record down to 14-8. As for Prout, they pushed their record up to 19-3 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home.
North Providence does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Prout, they will challenge Exeter-West Greenwich at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Exeter-West Greenwich will roll in looking for their 12th straight victory, something Prout surely won't give up without a fight.
