Football Recap: Polytechnic Panthers vs. Monrovia Wildcats
Polytechnic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They had to suffer through a 49-7 loss at the hands of the Monrovia Wildcats. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Panthers of the 54-22 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2023.
Monrovia found their leader in freshman Jesse Saucedo, who threw for 217 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 passes, and also rushed for 80 yards and a touchdown on only six carries. Those 80 rushing yards gave Saucedo a new career-high.
Polytechnic's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Monrovia, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-2.
Polytechnic does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Monrovia, they will host Burbank at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Monrovia is on a three-game streak of home wins, Burbank a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the field.
