Softball Recap: Westlake's Loss Ends Three-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Westlake dropped their record down to 17-7 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lehi Pioneers. The Thunder were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Pioneers earlier this season, when they won 6-4.

Westlake saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madison Buckley, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

As for Lehi, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 18-8. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games.

On Lehi's side, Abbi Harroun spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up eight Ks. With that strong performance, Harroun is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game.

Coming up, Westlake will be playing at home against Skyridge at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Thunder's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season. As for Lehi, they will head out to face off against American Fork at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Pioneers are facing the Cavemen at the right time seeing as the Cavemen are stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
