Baseball Recap: Brethren Bobcats vs. Onekama Portagers
Brethren extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping them down to 2-4. They came up short against the Onekama Portagers, falling 13-0. The Bobcats were not able to make up for their defeat to the Portagers from their previous meeting back in May of 2025.
As for Onekama, their victory bumped their record up to 2-5. With that win, they brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.
For Onekama's part, Jacob Brown made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. Brown has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Onekama got a massive performance out of Bennett Zeller, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Zeller is becoming a predictor of the Portagers' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 0-4 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Grady Desarmeaux, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
