Baseball Recap: Winnebago Indians vs. Lutheran Crusaders
Winnebago had lost four straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 7-16 to make it five. They fell just short of the Lutheran Crusaders by a score of 7-6. The Indians were not able to make up for their defeat to the Crusaders from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.
As for Lutheran, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-7. Seven seems to be a good number for they as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
For Lutheran's part, Nate Ling made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Ling was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Mason Villafuerte was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. Mason Keller was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI.
While Winnebago had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
