Basketball Recap: Michael Latour Key Part of a Team Effort in Dragons Win

Mid-Peninsula lost to KIPP Esperanza back in December of 2023, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Mid-Peninsula Dragons blew past the KIPP Esperanza Eagles 63-40. The Dragons pushed the score to 49-21 by the end of the third, a deficit the Eagles cut but never quite recovered from.

Mid-Peninsula's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Michael Latour led the charge by going 7 for 12 en route to 23 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Oliver Carpenter, who went 8 of 17 on his way to 20 points along with six assists and five steals.

Mid-Peninsula was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

The victory got Mid-Peninsula back to even at 4-4. As for KIPP Esperanza, they dropped their record down to 0-7 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Mid-Peninsula didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 68-34 defeat against Kehillah on the 13th. KIPP Esperanza has also already played their next game, a 50-23 win against San Francisco Christian on the 14th.
