Soccer Game Preview: Ashley vs. Hoggard

The Ashley Screaming Eagle will head out to take on the Hoggard Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Hoggard better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if Ashley's game on Tuesday is any indication, that's when Ashley really gets things going. The Screaming Eagle never let New Hanover get on the board and left with a 5-0 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what Ashley needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

Meanwhile, Hoggard entered their tilt with South Brunswick two weeks ago with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 9-0 win. That's two games straight that Hoggard have won by exactly nine goals.

Ashley is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-1-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up three goals over those 11 contests. As for Hoggard, their win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-1.

Ashley took their victory against Hoggard in their previous matchup on April 1st by a conclusive 4-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Screaming Eagle since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
